The Editor's Note for Robert Parry's unheeded warning to Barack Obama: In the days after Barack Obama won the presidency in 2008, we published a three-part series warning him of dangers ahead. However, the new President chose to ignore all our warnings. So nearly two years later, it might be a good time to assess whether our concerns were valid or not.Read the entire reprinted article. Representative Anthony Weiner (D-NY) is holding hearings in which he is looking into Goldline International, a gold investment company and prominent advertiser on Glenn Beck's radio show. Weiner is mercilessly grilling Scott Carter, Goldline's executive vice president. I listened briefly to Beck radio shwo this morning and Beck is unapologetic for being affiliated with the shady company. No big surprise. Beck (along with other wing-nut radio talkers such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity) has shilled for IncomeAtHome.com, a front for some network marketing distributors for Herbalife. None of this is a surprise to me. Right-wing talk jocks don't give a damn about their audience--they think their listeners are a bunch of boobs for believing crap they know not to be true. Scam artists also know that the right-wing talk jocks have audiences of extremely gullible people; therefore, it makes sense to sell their questionable-at-best investment opportunities to these people. It would be amusing if it were not for the good (but naive) people who are scammed out of their money. UPDATE: Watch Weiner talk to Keith Olbermann about Goldline (last night's Countdown episode).
