California Primary day off
I 'm doing some California primary day duties--not so much for the cash (which is piss-poor) but because I'm doing some stuff for the show. I'll be at the polls all day tomorrow so I'll be back on Wednesday. I predict that "businessman" William Simon (I put the word businessman in quotes because, like George W. Bush, Simon got where he got because of his daddykins) will win the GOP primary for governor and that Gray Davis will eat Simon's lunch in November. The right is comparing Simon to Ronald Reagan in 1966. Wrong. Why? 1) The GOP is no longer the party of Lincoln; it's the party of Jefferson Davis. That is fatal in a state that has no stomach for the current Republican party or its leadership. 2) Simon is an empty suit.
What makes this funny to me is that former LA mayor Richard Riordan would be the strongest GOP opponent.
