Is Representative Pat Tiberi (R-OH) Ashamed of Being A Republican?
Check out the mailer sent out for incumbent Republican Congressman Pat Tiberi who represents Ohio's 12th district and is in a competitive race this year; there are over 500 words in the mailer but not one is the word "Republican":
Even though the 12th congressional district has been a solidly Republican district--it had Democratic representatives during FDR's administration and from 1981-1983 (when Tiberi's Democratic opponent Bob Shamansky held the seat until defeated in the 1982 election by John Kasich). While this seat is not in National Journal's 50 most competitive races, I think Tiberi is scared.
Addendum: Here is what was on the National Journal's House race ranking page yesterday:
There's nothing harder than trying to rank the races from 40 to 50. In fact, we wish we had 75 slots, since there are a number of races that don't make our top 50 which arguably could (see Doolittle or Tiberi or even Oberstar). We use the final 10 slots in our rankings to judge the second-tier races we believe are actually beginning to pop.
