Media Matters for America, Ann Coulter, and DrudgeI discovered years ago that Ann Coulter is full of it. I haven't bothered to read her last two books--why bother when Media Matters can do it and report the various errors, lies, and important omissions. I set up
a site to point people to important lies that Coulter made in her latest book Guilty and how Media Matters has been on top of things.
Guilty, unlike Coulter's previous book
If Democrats Had Any Brains They'd Be Republicans which tanked, is a bestseller. A big reason is the
phony controversy, publicized by the Drudge Report, that Coulter was banned by NBC. Coulter benefits because of her friendship with Drudge and she returns the favor, most recently with her absurd claim that "the Drudge Report has never had to retract a report." Media Matters refuted this canard
with many examples.
I would like to add the following observations. Coulter used her previous book
Slander to cover for Drudge. In
Slander, Coulter wrote a blatantly misleading assertion about Drudge's libel of Sidney Blumenthal--
I dissected Coulter's dishonesty in a post on this blog.
Addendum: Drudge wasn't happy enough with libeling Blumenthal;
Drudge later posted an item on the Drudge Report when another person with the name Sidney Blumenthal was arrested for a heinous crime. One final note on the matter, when Drudge had a radio show,
I confronted him on the air about his libel of Blumenthal and his abbrogation of journalistic principles--Drudge, to no surprise, played the victim card.
