Anti-GOP Operation Chaos 2012 is a MustIn 2008, after Barack Obama had nearly gained enough delegates to secure the Democratic nomination, Rush Limbaugh launched "Operation Chaos" encouraging GOP voters to vote for Hillary in the Democratic primary (by this time in the process, McCain had enough delegates for the GOP nomination). Fox News helped out by puffing up Hillary. Limbaugh's goal was riots in the streets during the Democratic convention in Denver. Fortunately, Limbaugh's project--though it caused a few scares--was a failure (apparently, Limbaugh was trying to make up for almost singlehandedly losing the Senate for the GOP in 2006;
his asshole move of accusing Michael J. Fox of faking his Parkinson's disease symptoms cost the GOP the Missouri Senate seat and control of the Senate).
We should return the favor in 2012 by encouraging Democrats and progressives to support one of the following Republican candidates in 2012: 1) An early front-runner who would be a weak candidate in the general election such as Sarah Palin or Mike Huckabee; or 2) A challenger to a GOP front-runner who would be strong in the general election.
This is something that progressive operatives should be thinking about now. It can be done cheaply and effectively.
